YAUHENI ROUBA

Yauheni Rouba was born in 1949 into a peasant family in the village of Androshevschina, Lida Region, Grodno Oblast. Belarusian. Married, has two daughters.

In 1971 he graduated from the Faculty of Mathematics at the Lenin Belarusian State University. In 1975 he defended his Ph.D. thesis. From 1974 to 1979 he worked at the Gomel State University, first as a senior teacher, lecturer, and then as a head of one of the chairs of the Faculty of Mathematics.

In 1979 Yauheni Rouba began working at the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno. He worked his way from the head of the chair to the Rector of the University. He worked as Vice-Dean, then Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics. When he was 33 he was appointed Vice-Rector for Scientific Work of the Grodno University.

From 1986 to 1988 he was a consultant of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Cuba. From 1996 to 1998, Yauheni Rouba was Head of the Grodno branch of the Special Faculty of Business and Information Technology of Belarusian State University.

Yauheni Rouba was one of the originators of a system of postgraduate education at the Grodno University. On his initiative, the Institute of Postgraduate Studies was created, whose Director he was in the years of 1998-2000. In 1999 he defended his doctoral dissertation.

In 2000, Yauheni Rouba was appointed Senior Vice-Rector of the Grodno University. Under his guidance, there was introduced a quality management system at the university, designed to provide a high level of university education. International cooperation of the University with academic institutions in Europe, USA and China significantly has developed.

Taking up an executive position, Yauheni Rouba continued active scientific and pedagogical activity. He trained Master's Degree students and Philosophy Doctors in Physics and Mathematics. Professor Rouba is the author of more than 100 academic, scientific and methodical works and textbooks for high school.

In 2005, Yauheni Rouba was appointed a rector of the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno. His appointment was supported by the whole staff of the University. While taking up a post of Rector he has fully realized his high level business and personal qualities. His initiatives have the support of the professors, the whole staff and the students.

Under the guidance and active participation of Rector Professor Rouba the University started training for a number of construction and technical specialties. University is actively working towards the implementation of such programs as an innovative approach to the economy and industry, the development of high technologies, export of educational services, and training of young scientists.

In 2007, Yauheni Rouba was elected to the Grodno Oblast Council of Deputies of the 25th convocation.

In 2008, he was awarded a high state award - the Medal of Frantsysk Skaryna.

In 2009, Yauheni Rouba was awarded the badge of the Ministry of Education "Excellence in Education".

In 2009, he was awarded the Diploma of the Ministry of Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Belarus, Diploma of the Grodno Oblast Executive Committee, Diploma of the Grodno Oblast Council of Deputies.
